Aguilera Cancels Summer Tour

Christina Aguilera has been forced to scrap her summer (2004) tour with Chingy after suffering vocal strain.

The singer called MTV's Total Request Live show Thursday to tell fans she wouldn't be performing after doctors ordered her to rest her voice, or risk serious problems.

She said, "I really look forward to get back out there and I'm using this time to write for my next record. It'll make it bigger and better because I'll have time to get things right for the next tour.

"I've had vocal strain in the past because I do sing live...but I just got off of a world tour and I was going to do this summer thing as a fun thing and I had this great show planned, but I was recording some vocals in the studio and, unfortunately, I strained a couple of chords.

"I'll use the time to get back on my feet and get fully energised."

Aguilera's tour was due to start on 13 May (04) in Auburn, Washington.

Aguileraaah! Christina's Thrilling Climax To Ad

By Rick Fulton

It's time to talk dirrty when Christina Aguilera stars in a mobile phone advert.

The singer simulates sex in the ad for Virgin Mobile which is so risqu it won't be shown in America.

In scenes reminiscent of Meg Ryan faking an orgasm in When Harry Met Sally, Christina arches her back and screams. She was paid a reported $1million for four hours' work.

Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson was so determined to get Christina for the campaign, he invited her to his Caribbean island of Necker to seal the deal.

A Virgin Mobile insider said: 'She is a hot property and Virgin are jubilant they have managed to persuade her to do this.

'This advert will have every red-blooded male drooling.'

The ads will follow on from the 'devil makes work for idle thumbs' campaign which starred rap singer Busta Rhymes.

Diva Christina arrived on set six hours late, sporting a red hairdo.

It is believed that more than one advert has been filmed and one may feature the singer in the nude.

The ads will be screened in Britain next month.

Christina Gets Retro For Her New Tour

"Dirrty" girl and Grammy winner Christina Aguilera is embarking on a new chapter in her whirlwind life with her upcoming summer tour, kicking off in Seattle on May 13th. Entertainment Tonight takes you exclusively inside her sexy video shoot for the tour where the singer glams it up as a flapper with a modern look -- which she says best reflects what the concert will be all about.

"For the theme we're taking the eras of the '20s, '30s, '40s and combining them with a new edge and a new twist," she says.

Although the talented Aguilera diffused rumors the British tabloids have been spreading that she is engaged to boyfriend Jordan Bratman, she did say this tour mirrors her own life. "What's different about this tour is that it reflects the next phase of where I'm at right now," she says. "It's a taste of the direction I'm venturing into with the next album." Which she says she'll be in the studio recording shortly after the end of her concert run.

Aguilera reveals she'll be singing a few covers from legendary divas of the past, including Billie Holiday ("Ain't Nobody's Business") -- something she thinks her older fans will enjoy. "It's going to be fun to dip into these waters and experiment," she says.

"I want to give my fans an experience they'll never forget," the pop star continues. "I am switching it up from the Stripped tour and breaking it down to be raw and different from anything I've done before."

Aguilera To Star In Multimillion Virgin Mobile UK Ad Campaign

By Jules Grant, Brand Republic

LONDON - 'Dirrty' singer Christina Aguilera is to front Virgin Mobile's 'sexiest ever advert', in a multimillion-pound deal that will continue the mobile brand's music star-led advertising strategy and will include a post-watershed commercial.

Richard Branson has been personally courting the star, known for her raunchy pop videos, and according to reports invited her to Necker, his private island, in an attempt to seal the deal.

The 23-year-old pop star has agreed to follow rap star Busta Rhymes and former Fugee Wyclef Jean on the continuing "The Devil makes work for idle thumbs" series of ads. In her raunchiest video, 'Dirrty', the singer caused controversy by dancing provocatively, wearing only a pair of leather chaps, a g-string and a bikini top.

The ad, created by Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R, is being shot in Los Angeles and is being directed by the award-winning Bryan Buckley, the former agency creative who co-founded Hungryman in 1997 and directed the Orange cinema commercials starring Carrie Fisher and Spike Lee. He will direct the shoot and produce two versions of the ad, with one destined for post-watershed broadcast. Media buying is through Manning Gottlieb OMD.

Details of the ad are being kept secret by the Virgin Mobile team but a source said: "This red-hot advert will blast off the sex-o-meter scale. We're expecting something very raunchy. She doesn't do choirgirl so the anticipation is sky-high."

Aguilera will film the commercial before her US tour kicks off at the beginning of May and the ad campaign will be on air by the middle of the month.

The singer, who first shot to stardom with her single 'Genie in a Bottle', also has an 18-month agreement with Sketchers footwear, which runs out in December.

The Scottish Executive has also drafted in the star to support its domestic abuse campaign in June. Aguilera, whose song 'I'm OK' draws on her own experience of living with a violent father, has pledged a signed copy of the lyrics to the regional government in Edinburgh.

Virgin Mobile has a long-running strategy of associating itself with music. Branson's phone venture has just confirmed that it is to sponsor the V music festival for the ninth year running. Previous Virgin Mobile advertising drives have also starred R&B singer Kelis and former All Saint Melanie Blatt.
